جنونِ عشق کی رسم عجیب، کیا کہنا
Junoon-e-ishq ki rasm ajeeb, kya kehna
میں ان سے دور، وہ میرے قریب، کیا کہنا
Main un se door, woh mere qareeb, kya kehna
یہ تیرگیِ مسلسل میں ایک وقفۂ نور
Yeh teergi-e-musalsal mein ek waqfa-e-noor
Amidst this endless darkness, a brief moment of light.
یہ زندگی کا طلسم عجیب، کیا کہنا
Yeh zindagi ka tilism ajeeb, kya kehna
جو تم ہو برقِ نشیمن تو میں نشیمنِ برق
Jo tum ho barq-e-nasheman, toh main nasheman-e-barq
الجھ پڑے ہیں ہمارے نصیب، کیا کہنا
Uljh pare hain hamaare naseeb, kya kehna
Translation:
The ways of love's madness are strange beyond words.
I am far from them, yet they are close to me — what a strange wonder.
Such is the strange enchantment of life, beyond words.
If you are the lightning that strikes the nest, then I am the nest made for lightning.
Our destinies have become entangled in a strange way, beyond words
