An Ode To Allama Iqbal
(Tere ishq ki intehaa chahta hoon)
I long for the depths of your love,
(Meri saadgi dekh kya chahta hoon)
See my simplicity, what I dream of.
(Sitam ho ke ho wa'ada-e-be hijabi)
Between cruelty and the promise of truth,
(Koi baat sabr aazmaa chahta hoon)
I want someone to test my patience, forsooth.
(Koi dam ka mehmaan hoon ae ahl-e-mehfil)
Let me be a fleeting guest in the midst,
(Chiraag-e-sehar hoon bujha chahta hoon)
To extinguish the morning's light, I persist.
(Bhari bazm mein raaz ki baat keh di)
I revealed a secret in the crowded space,
(Bada bey adab hoon saza chahta hoon)
I confess I'm impolite, deserving disgrace."
